Six Decades of Chester High Basketball

Jim Vankoski
Jim Vankoski the curator of the Mickey Vernon Sports Museum in Chadds Ford has researched and put together an exhibit of six decades of Chester High School Basketball. Delaware County Historical Society will salute Chester High School Basketball from January 26th to March 31st, 2013 at the Grand Opening program 2:30 - 4 P.M. at the Museum of the History of Delaware County, 408 Avenue of the States in Chester. The exhibit will debut at the museum after the First Black History Parade in Chester
The exhibit honors six decades of Chester High Basketball from 1950 to 2013. Jim Vankoski would like to inform Clippers’ fans that: In the process of selecting the best players of Chester High School basketball during the past six decades, the selection committee recognizes that many deserving players might have been overlooked. In order to help rectify this situation, the Delaware County Athletes Hall of Fame exhibit committee is taking nominations from the general public to include such players. An additional display of deserving Chester High players, to be known as the People Choice Award, will become a part of the exhibit. If you have any nomination, send to Chester High Basketball, Museum of the History of Delaware County, 408 Avenue of the States, Chester PA 19013. Please include your name and contact information, player’s name and year of graduation, and any awards he may have won along with a photo of the player taken during his high school career.

Jim Vankoski has organized an excellent exhibit and I had an opportunity to preview the display. Regular museum hours are on Wednesday and Friday, 9am-4pm; Thursday 1pm-6:30pm; and Saturday, 9am-2pm. More on CHS Basketball exhibit go to Mickey Vernon Sports Museum.
